The British Indian leader proposed the Tobacco and Vapes Bill last year and declared his vision for creating a “smokefree generation” by making it an offence to sell tobacco products to anyone born after January 1, 2009, which covers children aged 15.
“The alleged comments were wrong, they were racist and he has rightly apologised for them and that remorse should be accepted,” Sunak told members of Parliament.
In an interview, Sunak recalled the pain of hearing slurs directed at his younger siblings, adding that racism "stings" and "hurts in a way that other things don't."
