Thieves used a gas cutter to break into an HDFC Bank ATM centre in Jeedimetla’s Markandeya Nagar and stole the cash box, damaging one of two vending machines. Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage.

A similar heist took place in Bengaluru where a four-member gang took away Rs 30.2 lakh by breaking into an ATM in Sulibele near Hoskote

While the personnel of an agency arrived at the ATM to fill the cash, the two accused, who were reportedly following the vehicle, shot two of them and decamped with the cash box while everyone were watching

The suspect was identified as P Rajashekhar (40), a construction worker from Balapur.

Officials said no money was lost, but the ATM was partially damaged.
