A constable driver at Mehdipatnam police station, Shravan Kumar, was arrested for stealing a mobile phone worth Rs 1.75 lakh that had been recovered from a thief. The theft came to light when the phone’s owner arrived to collect it, only to find it missing.

The victim N Venkatesh (42) quarreled with his family, his son Sai Kumar, took a towel and strangled him to death.

"The assailants hit him on the head with boulders resulting in his death," said the Kulsumpura police.
