The Congress Legislature Party (CLP), which met here on Monday, has authorised AICC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge to appoint the new CLP leader.

The Congress has already announced several guarantees for the people of Telangana and is eyeing to defeat the BRS in the 119-member Assembly. Counting of votes will take place on December 3.

In a post on X, Kharge emphasized, "India's Constitution is our Democracy's backbone. As we mark the 74th Constitution Day, we honor its creators for securing the rights of every Indian."

Though the meeting was organised in a huge ground, most of the space was empty and less than 1000 people were seen standing in front of the dias.

With just five days left for the campaigning to end, the Congress has launched a massive aggressive approach in its campaigning and has been leaving no stones unturned to corner the ruling BRS in the state.

Kharge had to face an embarrassing situation as very few people turned up for the public meeting and he was forced to address the available audience.

Congress leaders stated that Kharge is scheduled to visit Telangana's Alampur and Nalgonda Assembly constituencies on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, Vijayshanthi departed from the ruling BRS and, in the presence of Kharge, joined Congress on Friday in Telangana.

She said Congress was the alternative to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and that she joined the Congress to stop BRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao from capturing power in the State for the third consecutive term.

Congress party President Mallikarjun Kharge said his party is determined to provide social justice, economic empowerment and unbridled progress to the people of Telangana.

Senior Congress leaders are arriving in the city to release the party manifesto for the elections.

Kharge is slated to speak at two public gatherings in Telangana, starting with a session in Hyderabad at 11 a.m. followed by another in the Malkajgiri Assembly region at 5 p.m.
