India's win was built on a first-innings century by stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane on their way to 326 in reply to Australia's 195, with young debutant Shubman Gill also excelling with the bat.

Shastri lauded the entire team with special praise for resilient debutants Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj after the 36 all out nightmare in the opening Test in Adelaide

"I want to give credit to the debutants Siraj and Gill, the character they showed after the Adelaide loss was great to see," Rahane said

Siraj got the wicket of Cameron Green in both the innings while he had Marnus Labuschagne (in first innings) and Travis Head and Nathan Lyon (in second innings)

The key is to remain patient and hit one area consistently, said Siraj

Umesh seemed to have injured his knee while bowling his fourth over which was the eighth of the Australian second innings

The typical Hyderabadi dialect commonly used in Irani hotels, play fields or among teammates brought smiles among the citizens from the land of the Musi

Kin of pacer, who made his Test debut against Australia, were excited while they followed game on television

The City speedster took two wickets and held two catches in his first Test at MCG

Mohammed Siraj (2/40 in 15 overs) repaid the faith shown in him with wickets of Marnus Labuschagne (48) and Cameron Green (12) with the old ball

It took 43 balls for Siraj to capture his first Test wicket when he had the dangerous Labuschagne caught at backward short leg by another Indian debutant, Shubman Gill

Congrats Siraj! Hyderabad is proud of you. Siraj, the fast bowler is the 298th Indian cricketer to play in Test cricket

It is understood that young Shubman Gill, after a couple of impressive knocks in the warm-up games, is seen as a replacement of Shaw as senior star Rohit Sharma will not be available until the third Test match in Sydney.

Siraj's gesture has taken the internet by storm and the BCCIshared a picture in which Green can be seen on his knees after the fierce blow and Siraj standing next to him and checking on the Australian.

Siraj's father passed away on Friday and the Indian pacer decided to stay with the Indian Test team in Australia, even though the Indian cricket board offered him fly back home

In his twitter handle, Ganguly said: May Mohammed Siraj have a lot of strength to overcome this loss...lots of good wishes for his success in this trip.. tremendous character

However, with the prevailing Covid quarantine rules in place in Sydney, the Hyderabad cricketer will not be able to travel for his father’s last rites
