Six Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Abhujmad region of Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh. Several weapons, explosives, and supplies were recovered. The operation was based on intelligence inputs. Identities of the Maoists are yet to be known.

The incident, which took place at Dandvan village on late Tuesday night, came three days ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the area.

The incident took place around 8.30 am between Dondribeda and Sonpur villages when a team of the ITBP's 53rd battalion was out on patrolling duty to ensure security to a road construction work, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P told PTI.

After the attack, the Naxals also looted and escaped with one AK-47 rifle, two bullet-proof jackets and one wireless set of the security personnel.

The jawans were taken to Raipur for better treatment, said Sadanand Kumar, Commandant, 16th battalion of CAF.
