Health officials said 253 people recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,85,102.

As many as 16,504 new COVID-19 cases were reported from the country in the last 24 hours continuing its streak of reporting low daily cases and high recoveries.

Even as the total tally increased to 2,87,502, the active cases dropped further to 5,388, including 3,210 in home or institutional isolation.

A total of 617 patients recovered from the virus, taking the cumulative numbers to 2,79,456, health officials said.
