Southern Railway has announced special trains and temporary coach augmentations across Tamil Nadu and Kerala to support passengers affected by widespread IndiGo flight cancellations. The measures, part of a nationwide rail initiative, include additional services and over 116 extra coaches deployed on high-demand routes.
SCR is running three special trains on December 6 to manage weekend passenger rush. Services include –Shalimar, Secunderabad–Chennai Egmore and Hyderabad–Mumbai LTT trains, offering over 3,700 seats and berths across classes.

South Central Railway announced four special train services connecting Charlapalli and Kollam Junction for Sabarimala pilgrims in December 2025 and January 2026. The services aim to manage the expected rush of devotees and provide smoother, more comfortable travel during the peak pilgrimage season
To handle the Sabarimala pilgrimage rush, South Central Railway will operate special trains between Charlapalli and Kottayam on November 24 and 25. Additional services connecting Hyderabad, Madurai, Kollam, Kanniyakumari, and Tiruvannamalai will run from December to January
To manage the heavy passenger rush, South Central Railway will run two special trains — Narasapur–Secunderabad (07455) on November 12 and Anakapalli–Secunderabad (07179) on November 15. Passengers are advised to use these additional services for convenient travel
