Rythu Sangham district secretary Bonthu Rambabu has urged the Telangana government to set up a green channel for fund release to complete the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme. He said the current allocation is far below the revised project estimate of ₹19,325 crore.
KTR lashed out at the Congress government for inviting tenders worth Rs.1,074 crore for construction of distributory canals of the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme without necessary approvals.
Terming it as a milestone achievement, he said it was yet another example of the brilliant work done by the previous K Chandrashekhar Rao government in irrigation sector.
Only two of the six pumps of the project were ready for the wet run. Four other pumps of the pump houses will also be ready for operations very soon to commence water drawl from Godavari river.
CM KCR said as promised by him during the Telangana movement, he had laid foundation stone for 13 LISs to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2,500 crore providing irrigation facility for an additional ayacut of 1.3 lakh acres.
