KTR hits out at Congress for inviting tenders without approvals for Sitarama LIS
KTR lashed out at the Congress government for inviting tenders worth Rs.1,074 crore for construction of distributory canals of the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme without necessary approvals.
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday lashed out at the Congress government for inviting tenders worth Rs.1,074 crore for construction of distributory canals of the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme without necessary approvals. He said the government violated norms and asked whether it was ready to face an enquiry commission for disregarding regulatory norms.
In a post on X, Rama Rao pointed out that the Congress made false accusations of corruption against the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and constituted a commission to probe into the allegations. “Those who called Kaleshwaram corrupt are now using it as a lifeline for lakhs of acres. What action should be taken against you now for your corrupt practices?” he asked, calling the Congress a “helping hand of corruption for its Delhi bosses”.
In a separate post, Rama Rao expressed disappointment over the Congress’s neglect of the fisheries sector in the State, resulting in around 20,000 tonnes loss of annual production. He said while the BRS initiated a blue revolution through free distribution of fishlings into the water bodies across the State, the State government ignored it, posing a threat to livelihood of fishermen.
“Under the Congress, schemes don’t just change names — they disappear,” he said, criticising the administration for failing to uphold the livelihood of Telangana’s fishermen, particularly the Mudiraj community.
He blamed the State government for prioritising Musi River rejuvenation spending crores of rupees, but disregarding release of free fishlings which had direct impact on people’s livelihood. He felt that the Congress which was focused on demolition of poor households without providing alternatives, had no concern for fishermen. He stated that the Congress government’s concern for HYDRAA, which was undermining Hyderabad’s reputation and disregarding the financial struggles of marginalised communities, was missing for vulnerable sections of society.
