Descendants of Telangana Armed Peasant Struggle icon Chakali Ilamma have opposed the appointment of Chityala Swetha as a State Women’s Commission Member, alleging she misrepresented her lineage.
Telangana Jagruthi leaders filed a complaint with the State Women’s Commission against MLC Ch. Naveen Kumar for his remarks on Kavitha. A sit-in protest was held after initial refusal to accept the complaint
The protest, organised to demand the fulfillment of a electoral promise by the Congress to increase ASHA workers’ salaries from Rs 9,750 to Rs 18,000, turned violent when police intervened.
The Commission had issued summons to Bandi Sanjay asking him to appear before it on March 15. However, he wrote to the Commission on Tuesday requesting permission to appear on March 18.
