Telangana’s annual Vanamahotsavam plantation drive has slowed down, with only 16.62 per cent of the target achieved more than a month after its launch. Deficient rainfall has raised concerns over sapling survival, even as plantation targets have been reduced year-on-year due to limited land availability.
The State Forest Department has reduced the target for plantation of saplings from 20.02 crore in 2024 to 18.02 crore in 2025. For the next year, the target has been further cut down to 16.06 crore saplings
"I appeal to all the members to participate in the programme. Let us all ensure Swachhadanam in our villages. All the pending issues will also be resolved," Anasuya said in the Assembly here on Tuesday.
