Talasani slams Oppn for criticising sheep distribution scheme
"The parties that ridiculed the scheme are now staging protests demanding that the government take necessary steps to ensure that all eligible community members avail the scheme. This is the beauty of the scheme," said the Minister
Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Tuesday slammed the Opposition parties for criticising the sheep distribution scheme meant for ‘Golla-Kurma’ community in the State.
“The parties that ridiculed the scheme are now staging protests demanding that the government take necessary steps to ensure that all eligible community members avail the scheme. This is the beauty of the scheme, which is first of its kind in the country implemented by the Telangana government,” he said.
For the first time in the country, a 1962 ambulance service was started in the State for giving timely treatment to animals, the Minister said, adding that necessary measures were taken to distribute the sheep to beneficiaries whose applications were pending for the last few weeks. The scheme would be extended to another three lakh members with over Rs 3,000 crore allocated in the budget.
Replying to the debate in the State Assembly on grants to his department, he said 550 veterinary hospitals out of 1,800 have been upgraded so far. The government would upgrade all the hospitals with a budget of over Rs 7.59 crore.
“We have also requested the Chief Minister to sanction new veterinary hospitals in the State to meet the increasing requirements,” he said, adding that the Fisheries department was also utilising all the resources to increase fish cultivation.
The Vijaya Dairy, which was completely neglected in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, has now turned into a profit making unit, he added.
