Talks held with striking doctors in Telangana
TJUDA and TSRDA boycotted all non-Covid electives except emergencies and all Covid related electives except ICU and critical care units across all teaching hospitals in the State
Hyderabad: Senior health officials on Wednesday held talks with members of the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA) and Telangana Senior Resident Doctors Association (TSRDA), who had launched an indefinite boycott of their medical duties across all teaching hospitals in Telangana.
The TJUDA and TSRDA boycotted all non-Covid electives except emergencies and all Covid related electives except ICU and critical care units across all teaching hospitals in the State.
“Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has already urged the medicos to resume their normal duties. In fact, he has also given the green signal to enhance honorarium to senior residents by 15 percent. We are hoping that talks with the medicos will be successful and they rejoin their duties. Moreover, this is not an ideal time to boycott duties due to the Covid pandemic,” Director of Medical Education (DME) Dr K Ramesh Reddy said on Wednesday.
Dr Ramesh Reddy on Tuesday had directed all principals, directors and superintendents of teaching hospitals and allied hospitals under the DME to make necessary alternative arrangements in view of the boycott of medical duties by TJUDA and TSRDA.
