Peddapalli: Activists of the Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangam (TBGKS) observed a one-day deeksha at the RG-I General Manager’s office in Godavarikhani on Saturday, protesting what they termed the negligent attitude of the Singareni medical board towards workers.

The deeksha was led by TBGKS State president Miriyala Raji Reddy. Union honorary president and former Minister Koppula Eashwar, former MLA Putta Madhukar and others participated.

They said that 80 percent of unfit workers were validated under compassionate appointment grounds during the BRS regime following the instructions of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. However, since the Congress government came to power, only five workers were declared unfit as against 55 workers awaiting consideration over the last eight months, they alleged. During this period, only six medical boards were organised.

A total of 130 workers suffering from chronic diseases such as heart ailments, kidney problems and paralysis, who were found unfit over the past 15 months, were called to appear before the medical board in November. Unfortunately, only 23 were deemed unfit, they complained.

They demanded that the management invite the workers who attended the medical board sittings in July and November again and declare them unfit as per their medical condition.
