Karimnagar: To strengthen the education system, the government is initiating various measures to check irregularities. To check teachers’ absenteeism, education department authorities have decided to display photographs of teachers in the premises of schools.
Besides irregular attendance, there were incidents of teachers staying away from schools for a long period by hiring volunteers in their places. To put an end to such practices, officials have decided to display the photographs of teachers to ensure the local people easily identify teachers of their schools.
In this regard, the school education department has issued orders recently. Based on the higher officials’ instructions, head masters have begun efforts to collect photos.
Besides photos, the subject which that particular teacher taught and contact numbers will also be displayed. So that the local people, especially parents would have complete knowledge about the teachers of their school.
All the schools including the government, Zilla Parishad, KGBV, Gurukulams, model schools, TSWREI society and others will have photos of teachers. It is learnt that flexies along with the photos of teachers working in that particular school have also been displayed in some schools. In a few schools, passport size photos of teachers were also been displayed in the staff rooms.
It is open secret that some of the teachers have entered into real estate business, running private chits and engaged in other business. They are staying away from schools by engaging in business activities. To streamline the attendance system and improve education standards, the government had introduced bio-metric attendance in all government schools across the state six year ago.
However, it stopped in many places within a short period on the pretext of poor network and other technical reasons. Going back to old practice, teachers started signing in the registers. Later, the government passed instructions for taking fingerprints of teachers. However, the old practice is being continued in many schools.
