Hyderabad: The Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation (TS UTF) on Sunday demanded the State government regularise services of the KGBV staff who have been working on a contract basis with nominal salaries for the last two decades.
This demand has been renewed in view of a Saturday car accident that claimed the lives of a KGBV special officer, Kalpana and ZPHS headmistress Geetha Reddy. The teachers’ body wanted the government to extend support to the KGBV staff who died while in service.
TS UTF president Chava Ravi and general secretary A Venkat said KGBV staff, regardless of their length of service, receive no benefits other than their monthly salary. “Even that salary is not commensurate with their work and no compensation is extended to the staff in case of illness or death,” they said.
TSUTF demanded that the State government provide an ex gratia of at least Rs 10 lakh to the family of the KGBV employee who died while in service. It also demanded that a compassionate appointment be given to one eligible family member, to ensure KGBV staff job security, besides regularising their services.
