Hyderabad: The Jeedimetla Police on Wednesday said the minor daughter of Satla Anjali (39) had preplanned, orchestrated, and executed her brutal murder with the help of her boyfriend.
Within 24 hours of the crime being reported, the police announced the arrest of three persons – P. Shiva Kumar (19), an intermediate student and DJ operator from Nalgonda; Anjali’s 16-year-old daughter; and Shiva’s younger brother, also a minor.
According to the police, the crime was orchestrated and executed by Anjali’s daughter, a juvenile in conflict with the law, in collusion with Shiva and his younger brother.
“The minor girl was in a relationship with Shiva for some time, which was opposed by Anjali. This led to frequent arguments and warnings between them, resulting in the juvenile conspiring with Shiva to eliminate her mother,” said K. Suresh Kumar, DCP, Balanagar.
On the evening of June 23, the girl sent her younger sister out of their house in Shapurnagar and called Shiva and his younger brother over, knowing the victim was alone.
“They overpowered the victim, strangled her with a nylon rope and a scarf, and bludgeoned her to death. After the murder, the minor girl locked the house and warned her younger sister not to tell anyone. However, the child alerted her aunt, leading to the discovery of the crime,” the DCP said.
Based on a complaint from the victim’s sister, the Jeedimetla police booked a case and, with the help of scientific analysis, pinned the suspects to the crime and arrested them. They confessed to the killing.
While Shiva was sent to judicial custody, the two minors were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
Clarification:
Meanwhile, Swetha, the great granddaughter of Chakali Ilamma, an Indian revolutionary leader during the Telangana Rebellion, has clarified that Satla Anjali was not Ilamma’s family member.
“Due to some confusion, there have been wide spread news reports that Anjali is Ilamma’s great granddaughter. But it is not true. She is no way connected or related to our family. We condole her tragic death,” Swetha said.
