Mulugu: One more farmer ended his life by taking the extreme step in Telangana. According to reports, Kummari Nageswara Rao, a farmer from Buttayigudem village in Kannaigudem mandal, consumed pesticide in full public view at the grama sabha recently. This desperate act was driven by frustration after his name was not included in the recently updated housing list.

Rao succumbed while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hanamkonda on Wednesday night. The incident sparked outrage as his family members and the villagers held the government responsible for his death. They are demanding compensation of Rs 25 lakhs and a government job for one family member.

He battled for his life for over ten days before dying in a hospital. The villagers attributed the incident to the farmer’s anguish and disappointment with the government’s actions.

BRS leader, Enugula Rakesh Reddy, calleld on the family members at the hospital and expressed his condolences. He emphasized that Rao’s death highlights his frustration with the government’s unfulfilled promises and accused the government of negligence.

“This is not suicide. It is a government-induced death,” Reddy stated. He demanded the government to provide a minimum compensation of Rs 25 lakhs and a government job for a family member. He criticized the lack of response from the government and Minister Sithaakka, even when Rao was in critical condition. It is unfortunate, he added.
