Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly witnessed chaotic scenes on Friday evening, with the ruling Congress government concluding the session without allowing opposition members to seek clarifications on Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s reply to the Budget debate.

Despite all members participating in discussions on Finance, Planning and Energy departments, Bhatti Vikramarka used most of his speech to attack the previous BRS regime, claiming that the Congress was fixing the damage done during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s rule.

Even as the BRS MLAs sought clarifications, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar abruptly adjourned the session, triggering protests from the Opposition.

Speaking to the media, senior BRS MLA and former Minister T Harish Rao slammed the Congress, calling it a dark day for the Assembly.

“The government fled without answering the opposition,” he said, adding that the Congress dodged crucial questions on job creation, loan waivers and financial mismanagement.

He pointed out that the contractors were staging protests outside Bhatti Vikramarka’s chamber, accusing the government of demanding a 20 per cent commission for bill payments.

He ridiculed the government’s claims of providing interest-free loans worth Rs 1 lakh crore.

Harish Rao dismissed the Congress’ claim of creating 57,000 jobs, stating that notifications for only 7,094 posts were issued during the Congress regime, despite promises of two lakh jobs.

He also accused the government of lying about Telangana’s debt, which stood at Rs 4.2 lakh crore under the BRS, not Rs 7 lakh crore.

He further criticised the Congress for failing to implement its poll promises, including the Rs 2,500 Mahalakshmi scheme, and accused the government of ignoring employees’ demands, retirement benefits, and pending police bills.
