Praveen Kumar (30) of Mecharajupalli of Inugurthi mandal in Mahabubabad district, who was travelling in the car along with his wife Krishnaveni, children Chaitra Sai (4) and Saivardhan (2), suffered a sudden chest pain leading to the accident. Krishnaveni was rescued by the locals.

The bodies were found in the car at a distance of 200 metres from the accident spot after the vehicle was pulled out of the water. Irrigation officials stopped release of SRSP water and diverted water to Mahabubabad for carrying out search operations as heavy water flow in the canal hindered search operations.

Parvatagiri Inspector of Police, B Rajagopal monitored the rescue operations. The local police booked a case in connection with the incident and launched an investigation into the incident. It was said that a similar accident took place at the same spot some time ago. A pall of gloom descended on Mecharajupalli with the death of the man and the kids.
