Hyderabad: Senior BRS leaders lashed out at the Congress government for failing to fulfill promises made to government employees. They pledged full support to employees’ demands, and warned to join the latter’s agitation, if the issues remain unresolved.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, former Minister V Srinivas Goud charged the government with betraying employees without implementing the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) within 100 days, delaying DA payments, and ignoring retired employees’s benefits, among other electoral promises. “This fight is not political. Employees, who played a vital role in the Telangana movement, deserve respect, not ridicule,” he said.

He reminded that the previous BRS government gave 73 per cent fitment and ensured benefits. He questioned the need for a new committee of IAS officers when there is already a Cabinet sub-committee on the employees issues. He called it a delay tactic adopted by the Congress government.

Former Legislative Council Chairman K Swamy Goud condemned the government’s divide and rule tactics, stating that the government has funds for beauty pageants, but not for employee welfare. He stressed that employees are the backbone of the State’s revenue system and the government must honour its promises.

Former MLC Pathuri Sudhakar Reddy demanded an apology from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, charging him with showing intolerance and arrogance towards employees. “The Chief Minister himself is a salaried employee. His armtwisting against the employees is fueling public anger,” he said.

Former Employees’ JAC Chairman G Devi Prasad stated Revanth Reddy was demonising employees and using delaying tactics by appointing officials committees. “Out of 54 demands, 36 are non-financial. The anger among employees is justified,” he said.
