Hyderabad: The State government on Friday sanctioned one installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees, revising it from 26.39 per cent to 30.03 per cent of basic pay, effective from January 1, 2023. A government order (G.O. Ms. No. 78) was issued to this effect.

The revised DA will be paid along with the June 2025 salary, payable on July 1, 2025. Arrears for the period from January 1, 2023, to May 31, 2025, will be credited to the General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts of employees.

However, for employees due to retire on or before October 31, 2025, the DA arrears will be drawn and paid in 28 equal monthly instalments (EMIs), as they are exempt from making GPF contributions during the final four months of service, according to the order.

Government employees have been demanding the release of five pending DA instalments. At a cabinet meeting held last week, the government announced that one DA would be released immediately, and another would follow after six months. Accordingly, one DA was sanctioned on Friday.
