Hyderabad: Holding Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his policies squarely responsible for the protests staged by the police families, BRS leaders P Sabita Indra Reddy, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and Vani Devi said on Saturday that the failure of the home department led to chaos in key departments including the police.

“It is heartbreaking to see police families on the streets. This is the first time in history that police officers have had to protest for their rights. The absence of a Home Minister has left constables with no one to turn to for their grievances,” they said.

The constables, donning their uniforms, have been forced to stage protests, a situation unprecedented in Telangana. Despite their pleas, the government has shown no response, adding to their frustration.

The constables were demanding the reinstatement of the old system, which allowed them to spend four days with their families every 18 days. The current situation has left their children unable to recognize their fathers, and women facing increased atrocities in the State, the BRS leaders said.

They called for immediate intervention by DGP-level officials to resolve the issue. They emphasized that the police system was under the Chief Minister’s purview, and he must address the situation urgently.
