Hyderabad: The State government on Thursday cancelled Class 10 SSC examinations and postponed the Intermediate second year examinations.

The State government will promote all the intermediate first year students without any examination and inter second year students with backlogs will be given minimum pass marks for the backlog subjects. The 25 percent weightage of intermediate marks will not be considered for EAMCET this year.

The SSC exams were scheduled to be conducted from May 17 to 28 while the second year intermediate examinations were proposed to be held between May 1 and May 19.

Considering the present pandemic situation in the State and also keeping in view of the CBSE notification, the State government hereby cancels all 10th class exams, which were proposed to be held from May 17, Special Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Chitra Ramachandran said in a memo on Thursday.

Secretary, Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE), Syed Omer Jaleel said that the issue was reviewed thoroughly by the State government.

“The matter was reviewed by the State Government and in the interests of the safety security and health of the students, the State Government has issued a memo postponing the intermediate second year exams,” he said.

Senior officials from the Higher Education department will hold a review meeting in the first week of June to decide about the future dates of the Intermediate second year examinations. The Higher Education authorities will give a 15 day notice before the start of the examinations.

The results of class 10 students will be prepared on the basis of objective criteria to be developed by the SSC Board, Telangana at a later date. Any candidate not satisfied with the marks allotted will be given an opportunity to sit in the examination, which will be held when the conditions are conducive, the Special Chief Secretary said.
