Peddapalli: Ramagundam Police Commissioner V Satyanarayana said that a CCTV camera was equal to 100 police personnel and added that cameras would play a vital role in developing crime free society.
The Commissioner inaugurated 33 CCTV cameras in Yelkalapalli gate and Ambedkar chowk area in NTPC police station limits on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Satyanarayana advised the people and public representatives to come forward to arrange CCTV cameras in their localities.
Besides controlling crime and thefts in rural areas, cameras would help in solving cases on fast track. Police department under community policing was taking steps to install CCTV cameras in villages and towns, he said and added that the CCTV cameras would help to know every minute incident in the localities.
The accused involved in theft and murder incidents were arrested with the help of CCTV footage. Appreciating philanthropists for extending support to install cameras, CP felicitated philanthropists on the occasion.
Peddapalli DCP P Ravinder, Ramagundam Mayor B Anil Kumar, Deputy Mayor Abhishek Rao, Ramagundam CI Karunakar Rao, SI Swaroop Raj and others participated in the programme.
