Kodangal: After assuring farmers that they would get assistance under Rythu Bharosa from Sunday midnight, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy gave the farmers a shock when he said the entire amount would be deposited in the bank accounts of all eligible farmers by March 31 only, indirectly revealing that the State government was intending to take two long months to implement the scheme.

Speaking after formally launching four schemes — Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Atmeeya Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Indlu and distribution of ration cards — at Chandravancha village under his Kodangal constituency, the Chief Minister had initially said today being January 26, it was a holiday for banks. After midnight, every farmer owning cultivable land would get Rs.6,000 per acre in his bank account.

Contradicting his assurances within minutes, he said Rs 10,000 crore would be extended to farmers owning cultivable land under Rythu Bharosa by March 31. The scheme, which involves two installments, would have Rs 20,000 crore being spent annually, he added.

Under Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa, 10 lakh families would be extended financial assistance of Rs 6,000. All eligible persons would get benefits under the four schemes by March 31, the Chief Minister said, adding that in Kodangal, 3,500 houses under Indiramma Indlu scheme would be offered before March 31.

Alleging that attempts were being made to instigate people at gram sabhas over their names missing from the beneficiary lists, Revanth Reddy asked the people to share all details with officials when they visit their villages. All applications would be scrutinised and measures would be initiated to extend benefits to all eligible persons, he said.

The Chief Minister also charged that conspiracies were being hatched to stall development in Kodangal. While the State government was trying to establish industries to provide employment, people were being instigated to attack officials and hinder the works, he said.

Revanth Reddy said his family members did not hold any positions and that his brother Tirupati Reddy was only “helping” people in Kodangal without seeking any benefits, he claimed that his family was spending personal money to take up different works. Interestingly, as he said this, Tirupati Reddy was also present on the dais along with other elected representatives.

“I gave land for bus depot, sub-station and schools. I personally purchased land and handed them over for bus depots and other facilities,” Revanth Reddy claimed.
