KARIMNAGAR: Collector Pamela Satpathy instructed Education Department officials to teach lessons in English medium to children of migrant labourers since they would have to move from one place to another along with their parents.
Speaking after distributing school bags, drawing books and crayons to migrant labourers’ children studying in Maqdumpur Zilla Parishad High School on Wednesday, Satpathy emphasised the need to encourage education among children of migrant labourers. In this regard, the district administration was providing education to more than 500 children in a few selected schools.
All the students were provided school bags, drawing books, crayons and stationary. School uniforms would be provided to all students with the cooperation of the owner of industries wherein their parents were working. All the students were also being served food in schools as part of the mid-day meal programme. Besides mathematics, students should be trained in English, the Collector instructed and asked the parents to send their wards to schools regularly.
Informing that lessons were being taught for the children of migrant labourers in Maqdumpur, Bommakal and Cherlabuthkur of Karimnagar rural mandal, she advised the labourers to utilise the opportunity and encourage their wards to pursue higher studies.
