Telangana: Congress rift in Siddipet over Mynampally’s role; G Chakradhar Goud to quit
Senior Congress leader G Chakradhar Goud quits, accusing Mynampally Hanumantha Rao of destabilising Siddipet politics through “murder politics” and police interference. He warns of electoral losses unless the party acts decisively and criticises hollow BC reservation promises
Siddipet: The involvement of Congress leader Mynampally Hanumantha Rao in Siddipet politics has triggered serious differences within the party in the district, with senior leader G Chakradhar Goud announcing his decision to quit. He accused Mynampally of resorting to “murder politics” in Siddipet constituency.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Goud alleged that Mynampally had influenced the police to register cases against Congress leaders in Gajwel and Malkajgiri constituencies. He claimed that even District Congress Committee president Tumkunta Narsa Reddy was booked in Gajwel at Mynampally’s behest, destabilising the party in the district.
Goud also criticised the party for admitting Alakunta Mahendar into the Siddipet fold despite multiple land-grabbing allegations against him. He warned that unless the leadership acted firmly against Mynampally, Congress would fail to win a single seat in the upcoming local body elections.
Accusing the government of neglecting farmers and BCs, Goud termed the Congress’s push for 42 per cent BC reservation in local body polls as a “drama” lacking genuine commitment. He demanded the immediate removal of the Siddipet constituency in-charge to “save the party” and vowed to focus on BC issues while staying away from party activities.
