Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), in coordination with the State police units, caught 4,682 persons in 1,942 cases of drug trafficking in 2024. The police seized drugs worth 142.95 crore.
The TGANB, headed by Sandeep Shandilya, managed to obtain orders under Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976 (SAFEMA) and freezed properties worth Rs. 55.8 crore in 10 NDPS Act cases. In another 122 cases, the bureau is in process of obtaining the orders.
The conviction rate in NDPS cases almost doubled with 102 people convicted, including 17, for a period of 20 years for drug trafficking in the State. The BRS government had formed the bureau dedicated to fight the drug trafficking and provided it will necessary infrastructure.
