Telangana Cyber Security Bureau arrests 165 involved in 795 local cybercrimes, 3,357 nationwide
Shikha Goel, Director of TGSCB said that seven Cyber Crime Police Stations were established in the State and are functioning since 2024. The teams have been working out clues in identifying, tracking, and locating the cyber criminals involved.
Hyderabad: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) in last six months arrested 165 persons who were allegedly involved in 795 cybercrime cases in the State and 3,357 cases across the country.
Director, TGCSB, Shikha Goel said that seven Cyber Crime Police Stations were established in the State and are functioning since 2024. The teams have been working out clues in identifying, tracking, and locating the cyber criminals involved.
“So far, 165 criminals involved in different cases in Telangana and other States were nabbed. The information about the suspects apprehended by the TGSCB was also shared with the police stations concerned across the country,” she said.
During the investigation, the police found the fraudsters were involved in various cybercrimes such as part-time jobs, business investment (stock trading) frauds, digital arrests, loan frauds, cyber slavery, hacking, advertisement frauds, impersonation, matrimonial frauds and sextortion. The people were involved in different roles like operating mule accounts, bank account suppliers, account operators, SIM suppliers, bank official, travel agents etc.
Arrested persons are from Andhra Pradesh, Assam, New Delhi, Gujrat, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal.
Analysis of criminal profiling:
• 45% are Graduates and Post Graduates including B.Tech, MBA, MCA; 20% Intermediate, 35% of them are below SSC & Illiterates
• 34% of them are businessmen which includes hotels, restaurants, real estate etc., 21% are self employed which includes digital content creators, cab drivers, gym trainers, event mangers, RMP doctors etc.;
• 14% in private jobs which include workers in petrol bunks, garment shops, toll plaza, delivery services etc.; 14% of them are unemployed; 9% are students; 5% of them are farmers & labourers; 3% of them are govt. employees
• 49% of them are in the age group of 21 to 30 Years; 28% in the age group of 31 to 40 years; 10% are in the age group of 41 to 50 years; 5% are below 20 years; 8% are above 50 years
