Telangana Diagnostic Hub inaugurated at Mahabubabad govt area hospital

Mahabubabad: State government is taking all steps to strengthen the public health care system in the State and people should utilise the services in government hospitals, said Minister for Tribal, Women and Child Welfare Satyavathi Rathod said here on Monday.i
Speaking after inaugurating the Telangana Diagnostic Hub established at the government area hospital, she said that the patients can undergo almost 57 types of tests at this facility set up at the cost of Rs 2.70 crore. “People were forced to visit other diagnostic centres for the tests, but now they can undergo tests at this facility,” she said added that even the COVID-19 patients could get tested at this centre.
According to the officials, the T-Diagnostic initiative has been envisaged in a hub-and-spoke model wherein a bigger public healthcare institution forms the hub, while smaller institutions such as PHCs, Community Healthcare Centres (CHCs) and wellness centres are linked to the hub.
“Tests including Clinical Pathology: Complete blood picture, complete urine examination, stool for occult blood and others, Microbiology-Serology: Rapid plasma reagin test, chikungunya, dengue tests and others, and Clinical Biochemistry: Blood urea, creatinine clearance, blood sugar test, thyroid and lipid profile, HbA1c and others are conducted at the hub,” said an official.
Blood samples of patients collected are transported from PHCs, CHCs to the hub where higher-end tests are conducted and results made available online. In case, the distance between the hub and smaller medical facility is less, patients will be referred directly to the higher healthcare facility.
District Collector VP Gautham, Additional Collector Abhilasha Abhinav, Zilla Parishad chairperson Angothu Bindhu, local MLA Banothu Shankar Naik, Municipal Chairperson Dr Palvai Rammohan Reddy, RDO Komuraiah and others were present at the programme.
