Karimnagar: Differences in SC communities came to the fore on the occasion of Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanthi celebrations held at Court Chowk here on Monday.
A female activist from the Mala community, Dandi Sharadha, staged a protest by sitting in front of the dais over not being invited onto the dais. A few other women activists also extended support to her. She alleged that the organisers were showing discrimination on a few communities by not inviting them onto the dais.
Despite the organisers’ request, she continued her protest. When photographers and videographers of various media organisations started covering her protest, Praja Sangala JAC chairman Gajjela Kantham expressed anger at media persons.
Enraged over the incident, media persons entered into an argument with Kantham.
Manakondur MLA Kavvampally Satyanarayana, who was present on the dais, intervened into the matter and convinced both the sides. Later, Sharadha withdrew her protest.
