Hyderabad: The principals and superintendents of all tertiary teaching and specialty hospitals in the State have been given instructions by Director of Medical Education (DME), Dr. K Ramesh Reddy to strictly maintain and monitor attendance of teaching faculty and clinical staff.

The faculty in all government health care institutions must strictly maintain the timings of 9 am to 2 pm of clinical work and 2 pm to 4 pm of academic work, the DME said. Every day, outpatient clinics should start by 9 am and the faculty including the unit chief should attend outpatient services. Operation Theatres (OT) should start by 9 am and respective surgical and anaesthesia units should be available in the OT till 2 pm, the DME said.

The duty roster of health care workers in a unit must be prepared in the last week of the preceding month and sent to the respective Superintendent.

To improve the health care services at tertiary hospitals, the DME has directed hospital managements to ensure the Duty Resident Medical Officer (RMO) should attend to all kinds of issues and must take hospital rounds frequently and if they happen to come across instances of absenteeism, it must be brought to the notice of the higher-ups.
