NALGONDA: Farmers continue to stage protests over insufficient urea supply, citing glitches and hardships being faced in online registration for urea bags. They demanded that the government scrap the app-based distribution system.
Extending support to farmers, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders staged a protest at Rajapeta in Yadadri Bhongir here on Monday.
Raising slogans against the Congress government, the farmers and BRS leaders squatted on the road in Rajapeta mandal headquarters. The farmers complained that despite sowing operations commencing this season, the government did not arrange sufficient urea.
Apart from this, the introduction of an app-based distribution urea system was compounding issues for the community. In addition to glitches, many farmers were unable to operate smartphones and register their names, passbook, and other details to obtain urea bags, they complained, as per reports.
Even after the cumbersome process of registering online and visiting the dealers’ outlets, only two bags were being offered, the farmers said.
The farmers demanded that the app-based system be scrapped and arrangements should be made to supply urea bags directly in their villages, according to reports.
