Says govt strengthened infrastructure and manpower for any emergencies

Hyderabad: The State health department is prepared to meet any exigencies in case Telangana State witnesses a second wave of Covid-19 infections in the coming months, Health Minister Eatala Rajender said on Monday. “For the past month or so, we have been preparing for such eventualities. Our healthcare workers, right from doctors, nurses to non-clinical staff are fully prepared to meet the rise in demand for health care services, in case of a second wave,” Rajender said while interacting with Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan through video conference on Monday.

Covid-19 diagnostic tests including RT-PCR and rapid antigen tests are available in all District, Area Hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and even in sub-centres. There is no shortage in supply of Oxygen and hospitals have enough stock of oxygen supply. We have strengthened infrastructure and manpower for any emergencies,” Rajender explained.


During the interaction, Rajender urged Dr Harsh Vardhan to provide a roadmap on distribution of Covid-19 vaccines. “We request you to provide us with guidelines and a roadmap on the way the Covid-19 vaccines can be distributed,” he said.

Senior health officials from the State including Director of Public Health (DPH), Dr G Srinivasa Rao, Director of Medical Education (DME), Dr K Ramesh Reddy and Covid expert committee members were present.

State records 857 new cases, four deaths

Telangana has recorded 857 new Covid-19 infections and four fatalities on Sunday, taking the overall toll to 1381 and the cumulative number of positive cases so far to 2, 51, 188. As on Sunday, there were 19, 239 active Covid-19 cases in Telangana State. A total of 1, 504 persons recovered on Sunday, taking the cumulative Covid-19 recoveries in the State to 2, 30, 568 with a recovery rate of 91.79 percent, while the countrywide recovery rate is 92.50 per cent.

Between Saturday and Sunday, 23, 806 Covid tests were conducted in the State while reports of another 476 samples are awaited. So far, a total of 46, 42, 276 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 2, 51, 188 have tested positive and 2, 30, 568 persons have recovered.

The Covid-19 positive cases reported from all the districts include nine from Adilabad, 35 from Bhadradri, 250 from areas under GHMC, 27 from Jagtiyal, 10 from Jangaon, one from Bhupalpally, two from Gadwal, one from Kamareddy, 48 from Karimnagar, 25 from Khammam, two from Asifabad, 14 from Mahabubnagar, 16 from Mahabubabad, 20 each from Mancherial, 16 from Medak, 61 from Medchal Malkajgiri, one from Mulugu, 17 from Nagarkurnool, 30 from Nalgonda, one from Narayanpet, six from Nirmal, 17 from Peddapally, 15 from Siricilla, 88 from Rangareddy, 36 from Sangareddy, 25 from Siddipet, 18 from Suryapet, three from Vikarabad, eight from Wanaparthy, 12 from Warangal Rural, 38 from Warangal Urban and five positive cases from Yadadri Bhongir.
