Telangana geared up to fight Covid third wave: Chief Secretary
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar says tenders floated for setting up liquid medical oxygen plants in all govt hospitals
Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said tenders had been floated for setting up liquid medical oxygen plants in all government hospitals and that the government was also fully geared up to tackle the third wave of Covid-19 if and when it occurs.
The Chief Secretary said that as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the government had equipped the Health Department with human resources, infrastructure and other systems. Further, all the beds in government hospitals were being provided with oxygen facilities. Sufficient tankers had also been procured, he said.
Participating in a webinar organised by the Telangana State Medical Council from BRKR Bhavan on Tuesday, Somesh Kumar said the Chief Minister has been leading from the front the administration’s fight against Covid 19.
The Chief Minister personally visited Gandhi and MGM hospitals and interacted with the patients, which was a morale booster for the patients as well as the medical fraternity, he said. The government under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister has taken some innovative steps which resulted in Covid positive cases dropping, besides lower fatalities compared to several other States in the country, he informed.
Oil palm cultivation
The Chief Secretary said the Chief Minister was keen on increasing oil palm cultivation in the State. He observed that State had many innovative and progressive farmers who can be sensitised to take up oil palm cultivation. “It has huge potential and will also help reduce the import bill of the country,” he pointed out.
Speaking at a review meeting, the Chief Secretary discussed different aspects of importing quality sprouts, establishing nurseries, identifying potential private companies for setting up factories in the State and other logistic issues.
TS Cooperative Apex Bank
Chief Secretary directed Telangana State Cooperative Apex Bank officials to prepare action plan to speed up the process for construction of godowns through PACS within the identified locations across the State. Chief Secretary further directed them to coordinate with the District Collectors on land and other issues pertaining to construction of godowns.
