Hyderabad: Eight months after joining service, the Telangana government on Friday finally provided clarity on salary payments for teachers recruited through the District Selection Committee (DSC) 2024 notification.

The Finance Department issued an order stating that salaries for the newly recruited teachers would be paid effective from October 10, 2024, their official date of appointment.

Principal Finance Secretary to the Government, Sandeep Kumar Sultania, directed treasury officials to process the salary payments from this date. The government also clarified that all newly appointed teachers would be paid from October 10 and that their service would be officially counted from the same day.

Over 10,000 teachers were recruited through the DSC 2024 notification. Although appointment orders were issued on October 10, district-level counselling and postings took about a week. Many teachers reported to their allotted schools between October 15 and 17, leading to confusion regarding the applicable salary period.

Questions arose about paying salaries for days when some teachers had not yet assumed duty. In several schools, newly posted teachers overlapped with existing staff, further complicating matters.

Though appointment letters were dated October 10, salaries were initially processed from October 16, causing discrepancies. The Education Department sought clarification from the Finance Department, which resolved the issue on Friday.

Teachers’ associations, including the Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation, welcomed the decision, saying it would eliminate long-standing ambiguity and ensure fair treatment for newly appointed teachers.
