Hyderabad: Government doctors in Telangana on Thursday strongly condemned the State government over its negligent attitude towards Telangana Vaidya Vidhan Parishad (TVVP), which manages nearly 180 area hospitals, district hospitals, community health centres and mother and children health centres, in Telangana.

The Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) criticised the State government over mishandling of TVVP and delays in release of salaries to senior doctors at TVVP-run hospitals.

In a statement, TGGDA said the Congress government when it came to power was welcomed by government doctors with the hope that long-awaited reforms would finally materialize and that TVVP doctors would receive a permanent solution to their salary issues. “However, contrary to these expectations, the situation has worsened and become increasingly distressing,” the association said.

Hundreds of government doctors working under TVVP continue to wait every month for their salaries. “This is December 25 and so far the government doctors at TVVP have not received their salaries, causing severe financial hardship and mental stress,” TGGDA said.

To resolve the recurring salary crisis, the association demanded the State government to remove TVVP from the Corporation system and bring it under Directorate of Secondary Health Services (DSHS).

TGGDA urged the government to act responsibly and put in place a permanent system that ensures salaries are credited to TVVP doctors on the first day of every month. Failing this, the association made it clear that it is prepared to initiate further course of action.
