Telangana govt extends HILT policy deadline to Oct 31 amid poor industry response

The Telangana government has extended the deadline for applications under the HILT policy to October 31 after industries showed little interest in relocating from the CURE area beyond the ORR. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the Cabinet also cleared major decisions, including e‑auction of surplus paddy, correction of land records under 22‑A.

Hyderabad: The State government has extended the deadline for submitting applications under the HILT policy to October 31 following a poor response from industries. 

Under the HILT policy, the government had sought to facilitate the relocation of polluting industries from within the CURE area to locations beyond the ORR. However, not many industrialists were keen on relocating and raised several issues with the government. The government has accordingly extended the deadline for submitting applications to October 31.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy shared the details while briefing the media on the Cabinet meeting held here on Friday.

The State government procured 81.16 lakh metric tonnes of paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the Yasangi season. Of this, the Central government procured 63.62 lakh metric tonnes. 

The Cabinet approved the sale of the remaining 17.54 lakh metric tonnes through an e-auction. 

Following the recent successful auction of maize and the revenue generated from it, the Cabinet decided to sell the surplus paddy through an e-auction as well. The base price was fixed at Rs 2,389 per quintal, he said.

A day after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy raised the issue, the Revenue Minister admitted that genuine lands had also been included in the prohibited category under 22-A. He assured that such issues would be addressed transparently. Instructions have already been issued to the Revenue and Stamps and Registration departments to address the issue. 

He said lands included in the prohibited list, other than government lands and those with legal issues, would be cleared within a couple of days. “A list of prohibited and non-prohibited categories will be uploaded on the websites by Friday evening,” Srinivas Reddy said.

Other major decisions at the Cabinet meeting

– Distribution of new smart cards to ration cardholders across the State will begin from August 15.

– Administrative sanction was accorded for an estimated expenditure of Rs 2,100 crore for Phase-II works of the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal Lift Irrigation Project.

– A Rs 500 bonus will be paid for seven fine-grain varieties starting this year.

– Increasing the capacity of the Gudem Doddi Pumped Storage Project from 1.19 TMC to 15 TMC.

– The Telangana Rising Global Summit 2.0 will be held on December 7, 8 and 9 this year. The ‘Future City’ plan will also be unveiled during the event.

– The State’s ITIs, ATCs and polytechnic colleges to be brought under the ambit of the ‘Young India Skills University’.

– Construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools in the Adilabad, Nirmal, Mudhol, Boath, Sirpur, Gajwel and Dubbak constituencies was approved.
