Hyderabad: The Group – I services general essay examination held on Tuesday saw candidates reporting a moderate level of difficulty overall. Most of the aspirants who appeared for the examination found the questions to be on the lines of the examination of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission.
The Main examination conducted by TGPSC at 46 centres in Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Ranga Reddy districts on Tuesday included diverse topics – economy, polity, history, science and technology, climate change, and philosophy, allowing the aspirants to unleash their writing ability.
“The question paper is on the lines of the APPSC and moderate on difficulty levels. I expected questions on the NEP and federalism but they did not figure. There are questions on judicial activism and science technology, and regionalism,” said Sharath Chandra, an aspirant, who appeared at a centre in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
While candidates who prepared well for the examination confidently answered most of the questions, an exception emerged in the history topic, which experts termed it as a tough one. The question that was deemed as tough was ‘Illustrate the role of aniconic symbols in the representation of Gautam Buddha in Sunga arts and relate its influence to the development in Buddhist Art in later period.”
Adding to the exam’s challenge, a philosophical question on the lines of the UPSC Civil Services Main examination was included. The question – ‘Motivation may be understood as the seat of forces that cause people to behave in certain ways’; elucidate the above statement and describe the importance of motivation and need for a motivated employee in any organisation – took several aspirants by surprise.
“This question is on the Civil Services pattern. The question on history is tough and candidates with a deeper understanding will be able to write but not general students. Overall, the question paper is moderate on difficulty levels,” said Deepika Reddy, Groups coaching expert and director of Shikara Academy.
Brain Tree Director Gopala Krishna V said topics that were given covered almost all the areas. “Candidates with a command over the language would have an advantage while answering these kinds of topics,” he added.
