Hyderabad: This February, Kiran (name changed on request), was over the moon as his name appeared in the overall Group – IV general ranking list (GRL), placing him among the top in his district.
An overjoyed family of Kiran, who is in late thirties, immediately began to find a suitable bride for their son. With the job almost confirmed, Kiran confidently informed the prospective bride’s family about his government job selection, anticipating a final selection list and appointment order within two months.
Weeks turned into months, but neither the appointment letter nor the final selection list has been released, compelling the prospective bride’s family to cancel the alliance.
“Since there is an inordinate delay in releasing the final selection list and appointment orders, the bride’s family said I am lying about securing the job and dropped the alliance,” says a Kiran, whose family depends on disability pension for a living in Wanaparthy district.
Kiran’s story is not an isolated case. Thousands of Group – IV job aspirants have been trapped in a state of uncertainty and becoming restive over delay in releasing the final selection list and appointment letters by the Congress government.
According to the aspirants, it has been close to 490 days since the conduct of the examination on July 1, 2023 and more than two months into certificate verification, yet there was no official announcement from the government over the final selection.
They questioned as to why there was delay in announcing the final selection when DSC recruitment for 11,062 vacancies could be completed in just 65 days.
“DSC recruitment with more candidates and posts could be completed in 65 days but not the Group – IV recruitment for 8,039 vacancies,” questions said Sharath, an aspirant who is among the top in the GRL in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
Similar is the predicament of Pranay, a Group – IV aspirant from Mulugu district. “Since I am one among the top candidates in the GRL in my district, I told my family and friends in my village about my government job selection. But given the delays, I am now seen as a liar,” he lamented.
Aspirants take to social media
With Hyderabad police issuing prohibitory orders against gatherings in the city, the Group – IV aspirants have decided to take to social media, particularly X (formerly Twitters), for their campaign demanding the Congress government release the final selection list and appointment orders. Thousands of candidates who figured in the general ranking list have decided to post tweets.
They have also decided to meet Ministers to express their apprehensions about delay in recruitment process. Earlier, the Group-IV aspirants tried to besiege Gandhi Bhavan as part of their protest for announcement of the final results of the recruitment examination.
