Hyderabad: A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G M Mohiuddin of the Telangana High Court on Wednesday extended till January 2026 the interim order restraining the State government from taking any coercive or adverse action against BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and others, based on the findings of the judicial commission probing alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).
The batch of writ petitions filed by Chandrashekhar Rao, former Minister T Harish Rao, former Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar Joshi, and senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal came up for hearing before the Division Bench. During the proceedings, the State counsel sought additional time to file counter affidavits placing on record the government’s response and the details of the commission’s findings.
Taking note of the request, the Bench adjourned the matter to January 2026 and ordered that the interim protection earlier granted in favour of all the petitioners shall continue until further orders. Earlier, the High Court had restrained the State from initiating any action against the petitioners pursuant to the commission’s report, observing that the allegations relating to the execution and administration of the Kaleshwaram project required detailed judicial scrutiny before any further steps could be taken.
