Telangana Health department alert over seasonal diseases

Hyderabad: To prevent outbreak of seasonal ailments in Hyderabad and other districts that were battered by the recent rains, the state health department has started rolling-out measures specifically aimed at controlling vector and water-borne diseases.
As part of these initiatives, senior health officials have directed local District Medical and Health Officers (DM&HOs) across Telangana to be on alert and look-out for outbreaks related to water and vector-borne diseases and take preventive measures.
The district health authorities in Hyderabad and other districts have been directed to conduct fever surveys frequently and organise exclusive health camps in fever affected areas in the districts.
The district health officials, nursing and paramedical staff have been directed to take special care of the sanitation and infection-control measures within the premises of District Hospitals.
“Medical officers, DM&HOs and programme officers must avoid sanctioning leave to the staff without prior permission of senior health officials. We also urge people to be cautious and avoid consuming stale food and only drink potable water. The next few weeks are expected to trigger seasonal ailments,” said Director of Public Health (DPH) Dr.G. Srinivasa Rao.
The DPH has directed the senior district health officials including DM&HOs, supervisory staff, nursing and paramedical staff to conduct field visits and take necessary precautionary and preventive measured to control viral fevers, water and vector borne diseases.
