Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday permitted the BRS to hold its proposed “Yuva Sangrama Sadassu” at Saroornagar Stadium on July 18. Hearing the BRS petition, the court reportedly asked the police why no decision had been taken for 17 days after the application was submitted, granting relief to the Opposition party.
The BRS had moved the High Court, alleging that the police had failed to act on its application despite the party completing all formalities, including submissions to the District Collector, Sports Authority and Commissioner of Police, installation of CCTV cameras and payment of the prescribed fees.
Addressing a press conference before the court’s order, BRS Medchal district president and MLC Shambipur Raju and LB Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy alleged that the government had sought to block the meeting to prevent the Opposition from raising issues concerning unemployed youth, students, pending job promises and fee reimbursement. They accused the Congress government of suppressing democratic dissent and vowed to go ahead with the programme.
The party maintained that the “Yuva Sangrama Sadassu” would focus on issues affecting unemployed youth and students, and appealed for large-scale participation.
