Hyderabad: A two-Judge Bench of the Telangana High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice T Vinod Kumar on Monday directed the Director, Department of Language & Culture, Ravindra Bharathi not to cut the trees namely Ficus Racemosa (Weeping Fig) and Melia Dubia (Malabar Neem) located on the western side of the premises of Kala Bhavan, Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad.
The Bench was dealing with a PIL filed by Shivakumar W who contended that no prior permission was taken from the authorities concerned while precious trees were being cut. The Bench gave the State government one last opportunity to explain itself as to why the application made before the court should not be complied with. However, the court granted a stay on cutting down any trees in Ravindra Bharathi which is in the centre of the city and known for its heritage value.
