Jagtial: Senior Congress leader and former MLC T Jeevan Reddy on Monday urged the district administration to sanction Indiramma houses exclusively to the original beneficiaries of the Indiramma housing scheme, whose houses were demolished during the construction of double-bedroom houses at Nukapalli.
Reddy, along with several affected beneficiaries, submitted a representation to District Collector Satya Prasad during the Prajavani public grievances programme at the Collectorate and handed over the house site pattas of the beneficiaries.
Earlier, the beneficiaries met Jeevan Reddy and recounted how they had constructed Indiramma houses by fetching water with pots. They requested him to ensure that only Indiramma houses are allocated to them, instead of double-bedroom houses.
Responding to their plea, Reddy accompanied them to the Collectorate and submitted the representation during Prajavani.
Addressing the media later, Jeevan Reddy recalled that the Congress government in 2008 had sanctioned 4,000 Indiramma houses in Jagtial district. While some beneficiaries completed construction, many could not, due to financial constraints.
Reddy said he had submitted a representation to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy seeking completion of the unfinished Indiramma houses. Following this, the CM instructed the Collector to prepare estimates. The district administration submitted a proposal of Rs 52 crore to complete 1,611 incomplete houses, he added.
However, he said, some of these incomplete houses have been demolished recently. He urged the government to re-sanction Indiramma houses to the affected beneficiaries.
