Karimnagar: A Class 9 student from Karimnagar has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing concern that talented students from Telangana are unable to pursue education in reputed institutions due to the lack of renowned schools listed under the Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA).
While many reputed schools across other States have been empanelled under the scheme, only two CRPF-run schools are currently listed under SHRESHTA in Telangana. Highlighting this gap, Boodida Durga Sri, a student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Choppadandi, sent a letter to the Prime Minister on Wednesday, urging him to include more prestigious schools from the State in the SHRESHTA list.
Durga Sri qualified for admission under the scheme by securing an All India Rank of 148 in the entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the academic year 2025–26. However, she stated in her letter that she was unable to study in any reputed institution since most renowned schools here were not part of the scheme.
She specifically appealed to the Prime Minister to provide her an opportunity to pursue education at the International School of Hyderabad by including such institutions in the list of SHRESHTA schools in Telangana.
