Khammam: Police in the district headquarters have cracked down on youngsters who were causing inconvenience to the public by performing bike stunts on the city roads during the night hours.
Two-town Inspector of Police B Balakrishna in a statement here on Tuesday informed that as many as 14 youths were detained late on Monday night for creating nuisance on the roads by riding bikes at high speed, making excessive noise and stunts, disrupting law and order.
Seven motorbikes were seized from them and cases were registered against them under the Telangana Towns Nuisances Act. If anyone unnecessarily roams on bikes on the roads in the city after 10 pm and creates trouble for the common people causing law and order problems, their bikes would be seized, he warned.
Similarly, One-Town Inspector of Police Uday Kumar said cases were registered under the City Police Act against 10 youths who were roaming on the roads on motorbikes at midnight without any purpose.
He said special attention would be paid to those who cause inconvenience to the people by obstructing vehicles on the roads, causing nuisance by publicly consuming alcohol, rash driving, opening shops beyond the time limit at night and blocking the roads by celebrating birthdays on the street.
Those involved in the above acts would be booked under the City Police Act and produced before court. There were chances of imposing fines against them and sending them to jail. As per the orders of Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt, the City Police Act would be implemented strictly under Khammam police commissionerate, he said.
