Hyderabad: With an aim of creating large scale awareness among masses on digital frauds, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau launched ‘Fraud ka full stop’ on Tuesday.
Director General of Police, B Shivadhar Reddy launched the six week programme that will have the police collaborating with educational institutions, banks, NGOs and social groups to create awareness about cyber frauds through different mediums across the cities, towns and villages in the State.
Shivadhar Reddy said that in the last decade cybercrimes had increased manifold and scamsters sitting in far off places were stealing huge amounts from unsuspecting people using a cell phone. “A little carelessness is costing a fortune to the victims. Greediness is also a reason for people to fall victims,” he said.
Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau Director, Shikha Goel said that ‘Fraud ka full stop’ is a statewide movement to protect every citizen from digital frauds. She said the TGCSB call centre receives 1200 calls from across the State and of them between 300 to 400 calls are new cases.
“Sixty per cent of the victims are highly educated. Luckily, Telangana is seeing a drop in cybercrimes and this year there is a drop of eight per cent in cybercrime cases compared to the previous year,” she said.
